Box Score WILKES-BARRE, Pa. - For the first time this season, the 14th-ranked Stevenson men's ice hockey was held scoreless as the Mustangs drop a United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC) and Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) contest, 6-0, versus Wilkes Friday afternoon at Toyota Sportsplex.
- The Colonels (15-5-0, 11-2-0 UCHC) had the first power play attempt of the contest, going on the extra-man advantage at the 6:03 mark.
- Freshman Ryan Kenny made one stop on the kill before Wilkes was whistled for its first penalty of the game with 35 seconds remaining on the power play.
- The Mustangs (13-5-1, 10-2-0 UCHC) had 1:25 on the power play with senior Bruce Stachitas recorded the team's lone shot on net, which was turned aside by Michael Paterson-Jones.
- Wilkes outshot Stevenson, 14-7 in the period.
- Just 2:27 into the period, the Mustangs were whistled for a penalty with the hosts converting 41 seconds into the man advantage to take a 1-0 lead.
- Wilkes had a two-man advantage for one minute but Stevenson limited the Colonels to just one shot, which was saved by Kenny.
- At the 8:44 mark, the Mustangs had a power play and saw three shots blocked by the hosts before Paterson-Jones saved the last attempt.
- With four seconds remaining in the man advantage, Stevenson went to the box after too many player on the ice.
- On the very next power play attempt, the Colonels made it 2-0 with an extra-man goal at the 15:04 mark.
- Wilkes scored again just 25 seconds later to make it 3-0 before pushing its lead to 5-0 with 1:12 remaining in the period.
- After killing off the remaining penalty from the second period, the Mustangs had an early power play opportunity in the third period and fired four shots on net.
- Stevenson went back on the poewr play at the 4:56 mark but fired just one shot on net.
- Wilkes added its sixth goal of the game, an even strenght goal at the 8:57 mark.
- Wilkes outshot Stevenson, 33-23, including 12-3 in the second period.
- The Colonels finished 2-for-6 on the power play while the Mustangs were 0-for-5.
- With the win, Wilkes claims the its first MAC title in just its second season. The Colonels also sit atop the UCHC standings.
- Stevenson returns to action on Friday, February 7 when the Mustangs host a UCHC contest versus Neumann beginning at 7:00 p.m.
