OWINGS MILLS, Md. - The 12th-ranked Stevenson University men's volleyball team shook off an opening set loss to Lancaster Bible to down the Chargers 3-1 Friday night in the Stevenson Invitational at Owings Mills Gymnasium.  Set scores were 17-25, 25-21, 25-23, 25-23.

• Lancaster Bible (5-2) opened up a 14-8 lead in the first set.
• An attack error followed by a Tanner Stauffer kill put Stevenson (5-2) back within four, 14-10.
• A 5-1 run by the Chargers allowed them to open a 21-13 lead on a block by Reuben Kemrer and Jacob Faust.
• The Mustangs pulled within six, 23-17, but a kill and a setting error closed out the first frame.

• With the set tied 5-5, Stevenson used a 6-2 run capped by a kill by Kyle Bosko to take an 11-7 lead.
• The Chargers scored the next two points to pull back within a pair.
• A 6-0 run that featured two kills apiece by Logan Smiley and Aleks Melbardis extended the Mustang lead to 17-9.
• Lancaster Bible chipped away and pulled within two, 23-21, following a Mustang set error.
• Back-to-back kills by Stauffer closed out the set and evened the match.

• LBC opened up a 15-11 lead following a 5-1 run after the set had been tied 10-10.
• The Mustangs scored the next three points to pull within one on a Melbardis service ace.
• Stevenson cut the lead to one three more times before tying the set 19-19 on a Bosko block.
• The Chargers scored three of the next four points to take a 22-20 lead.
• The hosts used a 4-0 run, capped by a block by Nate Reynolds, to go up 24-23.  Reynolds and Stauffer also had another block in the run that tied the frame 22-22.
• After the Chargers staved off set point, Stauffer recorded a kill to give Stevenson a 2-1 lead.
• The set saw 10 ties and three lead changes.

• With the set tied 9-9, Lancaster Bible rattled off four straight points to take a 13-9 lead.
• Stevenson cut the lead to two twice before the Chargers opened a 21-17 advantage.
• Two kills by Smiley and another by Melbardis were in a 4-0 run that tied the set 21-21.
• Lancaster Bible scored the next two points to go up 23-21.
• After a Stauffer kill and a Charger attack error, a Melbardis kill put Stevenson up 24-23.
• A block by Stauffer and Bosko closed out the match.
• The final frame had nine ties and four lead changes.

• Both teams hit .276 for the match, with LBC recording 53 kills and 21 errors on 116 attempts, while the Mustangs had 52 kills and 20 errors on 116 swings.
• Stauffer finished with 17 kills, 12 digs and three blocks.
• Smiley had 14 kills and three blocks, while Melbardis added 10 kills and five block assists.
• Reynolds had five kills and no errors on seven attacks (.714) and added three blocks, while Bosko had five kills and six blocks.
• Derek Tangorra had 10 digs.
• Peyton Ranck notched 47 assists.
• Stevenson has won eight straight at home dating back to last season.
• Lancaster Bible is receiving votes in the latest AVCA Division III poll.

• Stevenson returns to action Saturday in the Stevenson Invitational, hosting Loras at noon and Marymount (Va.) at 6 pm.
