LANCASTER, Pa. - Trailing 7-4 with 6:15 remaining in the third quarter, Stevenson University reeled off seven straight goals to build an 11-7 lead and took a 12-9 win over Franklin & Marshall College in the second round of the NCAA Division III Men's Lacrosse Championship at Shadek Stadium Wednesday afternoon.

• Josh Brannan scored the game's first goal for Stevenson (13-7) 1:16 into the contest.
• Just over three minutes in, JT Thelen found the upper right corner to put the Mustangs on top 2-0.
• The Diplomats (12-6) got on the board at the 11:20 mark, then tied the game on a Luke Keating tally with exactly 8:00 on the clock.
• Thelen scored on an assist from Gray McKee with 1:25 left in the quarter to give the guests a 3-2 lead after 15 minutes.

• The Mustangs shut out Franklin & Marshall in the period, with Stevenson goalie Marc Poust making eight saves in the first half.
• Thelen scored the only goal of the quarter, putting home a rebound of a Cam Leydig shot that was blocked at the 4:29 mark.

• F&M broke a 24:06 scoring drought just over a minute into the third quarter on a goal by Kevin Mollihan.
• The Diplomats scored five straight goals, including a pair of man-up tallies, to build a 7-4 lead with 6:15 left in the third.
• Jacob Tatum scored Stevenson's only goal of the third quarter at the 2:44 mark to pull the Mustangs within 7-5, breaking a Mustang scoreless drought of nearly 17 minutes.

• Ethan Christensen scored back-to-back goals at 14:20 and 13:34 to tie the game 7-7.
• With 9:23 to go, Jimmie Walsh caused a turnover in the F&M offensive end, raced down the field, and found Thelen who scored his fourth of the game to put Stevenson up 8-7.
• Leydig scored on a feed from Thelen with 8:14 remaining.
• Christensen struck again at the 7:40 mark, with Thelen assisting, to make it a 10-7 game.
• Brannan notched his second goal of the game with just over six minutes left to cap the 7-0 run and give Stevenson an 11-7 lead.
• The Diplomats scored back-to-back goals 31 seconds apart to cut the Mustang lead to 11-9 with 1:55 to go.
• Christensen potted an insurance goal with 37.5 seconds remaining to account for the final.

• Stevenson improves to 18-9 all-time in NCAA play and wins its NCAA opener for the ninth time in 11 appearances.
• The Mustangs won their fifth straight game and have won 12 of 13.
• The Mustangs outshot the Diplomats 35-30, including 13-3 in the final quarter.   
• Stevenson won all 10 faceoffs in the fourth quarter and won 14-of-24 for the game.  Shiloh Shassian was 14-21 at the X and picked up seven ground balls.
• Thelen finished with four goals and two assists, while Christensen recorded four goals.
• Thelen moved into sole possession of fourth place on the career point list with 265.
• Christensen recorded his 100th career goal.
• Brannan recorded a pair of goals.
• Dominic DeFazio registered four caused turnovers and now has 139 for his career, tying the program record held by Kyle Holechek from 2011-14.  He also had four ground balls.
• Poust finished with 10 saves.

• Stevenson will travel to Medford, Massachusetts to face third-ranked Tufts in an NCAA third-round game Saturday at 5 pm.
