Stephey Records Four RBIs in Non-Conference Split at Catholic

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Stevenson softball senior Erin Stephey recorded four RBIs while junior Morghan Fulton recorded her eighth win in the pitching circle as the Mustangs posted a non-conference doubleheader split versus Catholic Thursday afternoon.

  • Stevenson 6, Catholic 1; WP: Fulton (8-6), L: Sturek (6-6)
  • A leadoff triple by sophomore Kayla Briles gave the Mustangs (11-16) an early one-run lead after Stephey drove in the run with a sacrifice fly.
  • Stevenson hit three doubles in the fifth inning, including a two-RBI double by junior Danielle Ebbighausen.
  • Stephey and sophomore Alexandra DiGrande also hit RBI doubles while Fulton hit an RBI single.
  • After Fulton held the Cardinals (14-16) without a hit throught the fifth and sixth innings, Catholic pushed a run across in the seventh on an error.
  • Ebbighausen and Stephey each finished with two hits and two RBIs.
  • Fulton allowed just two hits and no earned runs while striking out three.

  • The Cardinals loaded the bases with one out in the bottom of the first inning before sophomore Haley Monahan retired the next two batters with a strikeout and foul out, respectively.
  • With two outs in the second inning, Catholic took a one-run lead on an unearned run before doubling its lead with a two-out single in the third.
  • The Mustangs got one run back in the fourth inning on a sacrifice fly from Stephey to score junior Haley Lennon who hit a one-out triple to left center.
  • The hosts pushed its lead back to two runs in the bottom half of the inning.
  • Stephey hit a second sacrifice fly in the sixth inning to score Briles after she hit a leadoff triple.
  • In the top of the seventh, the Mustangs put runners on first and second with one out but they were left stranded.
  • Stephey finished with a pair of RBIs.

  • The Mustangs were 6-for-18 with runners on in the first game before going 0-for-6 in game two.
  • In the pitching circle, Fulton earned her eighth win of the season, just two shy of matching her career best.

  • Stevenson returns to action on Saturday, April 13 when the Mustangs host a MAC Commonwealth contest versus Albright beginning at 1:00 p.m.
