Mustangs Earn MAC Commonwealth Split at Lebanon Valley

ANNVILLE, Pa. - After dropping game one in a MAC Commonwealth doubleheader, the Stevenson softball team snapped its five-game losing streak with a one-run game two victory to earn a conference split at Lebanon Valley Wednesday afternoon.

  • Lebanon Valley 6, Stevenson 2; WP: Windsor (10-4), L: Fulton (7-6)
  • The Mustangs (10-15, 3-7 MAC Commonwealth) had a runner on third with two outs in the first inning after a leadoff single and stolen base by sophomore Kayla Briles.
  • Stevenson took a 1-0 lead in the third inning on an RBI single up the middle by junior Haley Lennon after a leadoff single by classmate Danielle Ebbighausen. Freshman Jessica Alicea moved Ebbighausen on a sacrifice bunt.
  • The Dutchmen (16-14, 6-4 MAC Commonwealth) answered with two runs on four hits and one Mustang error in the bottom half of the inning.
  • Lebanon Valley pushed its lead to 5-1 in the fourth inning, scoring two unearned runs.
  • With one out in the sixth inning, the Mustangs loaded the bases before pushing one run across on an RBI by senior Erin Stephey.
  • The Dutchmen added a run in the sixth inning while Stevenson was held without a hit over the final two innings.
  • Briles, Lennon, and Ebbighausen all recorded two hits.

  • Stevenson 3, Lebanon Valley 2; WP: Monahan (3-5), L: Musselman (4-5)
  • With two outs in the first, the Mustangs recorded three straight hits, including a double by Stephey followed by an RBI single by junior Erin Muir and an RBI double by classmate Morghan Fulton.
  • The hosts got one run back in the bottom half of the inning with a two-out RBI single to left field.
  • Both teams added a run in the fifth inning, including an unearned run by Briles on an error by the catcher after Briles stole third.
  • Sophomore Haley Monahan earned her third win of the season after not allowing a hit over the final two innings.
  • Stephey finished 2-for-3 at the plate.

  • The Mustangs were 7-for-24 with runners on and 4-for-17 with two outs.
  • Ebbighausen finished with three hits on the day after entering with just four hits in her first 38 at bats.
  • It is the ninth multi-hit game for Briles, eighth for Stephey, seventh for Fulton and sixth for Lennon.

  • Stevenson returns to action on Saturday, April 13 when the Mustangs host a MAC Commonwealth doubleheader versus Albright beginning at 1:00 p.m.
