ARLINGTON, Va. - The sixth-ranked Stevenson men's volleyball team rallied back from a 2-0 deficit to down Vassar College, 3-2, and the defeated the host Marymount University by a 3-0 score in a non-conference tri-match on Friday night at the Converse Fieldhouse on the campus of Marymount University.

• Set scores were 19-25, 13-25, 25-11, 25-21, and 18-16. 
• Vassar (11-9) grabbed an early 4-1 lead on kills from Kevin Ros and George Diehl along with a pair of Stevenson errors.
• Stevenson (21-3) hung tough working it all the way back to 9-9 with scores by sophomores Nate Reynolds and Logan Smiley as well as junior Kyle Bosko, senior Landon Shorts, and graduate student Christian Taylor.
• With the Mustangs behind by one 12-11, the Brewers went on an 8-3 run on kills for Jefferson Waters, Joe Hendrikson, Ros, and Diehl to jump out 20-14.
• Kills by Shorts and Reynolds would not be enough for Stevenson to come back as they dropped the first 25-19.
• Early in set two, the Brewers held a slim 8-7 edge kills for Yoni Auerbach, Ryan Duchemin, and Waters moved them in front 15-8.
• The Mustangs stayed within seven 18-11 before a 7-2 Vassar run closed the frame 25-13.
• Stevenson was tasked with trying to keep the match alive entering the third, and with kills for Shorts, Reynolds, and Smiley they got out to a quick 5-2 lead.
• A kill by senior Jason Gardner extended the advantage to 9-4, before kills by Smiley and Bosko along with another score by Gardner opened an 11-5 margin.
• An 8-2 push by the Mustangs on points from Gardner, Shorts and Smiley made it 20-7.
• Scores off the arms of Shorts, Reynolds, Smiley, and Bosko capped the set 25-11.
• With Stevenson down 10-9 to begin the fourth kills put away by Waters and Diehl moved the Brewers even further ahead 15-11.
• A kill for Smiley finished off three straight for the Mustangs leading to a Vassar timeout at 15-14.
• The set continued to go back-and-forth before Stevenson took their first lead at 19-18 on a kill off the arm of Bosko.
• From there a kill by Shorts and a pair of assisted blocks one by Taylor and Bosko with the other one coming off the hands of Shorts and Reynolds ending the scoring 25-21 evening the match at 2-2.
• Vassar took a 3-0 lead to start the fifth with a kill for Ros and two Mustang attack errors.
• Stevenson continued to trail all the 12-11 before a kill for Shorts drew them level 12-12 on the following point Shorts put down another kill to move the Mustangs in front 13-12.
• The set would be tied three more times 14-14, 15-15, and 16-16.
• Then with the score even at 16-16, an attack error by Jake Kaplan and a kill by Gardner completed the comeback with an 18-16 fifth set win.
• Vassar hit .207 to Stevenson .205.
• The Brewers were slightly better on the service line with a 7-6 edge in aces.
• The Mustangs were stronger at the net holding a 13-9 advantage in blocks.
• Shorts and Smiley led the way for Stevenson combining for 27 kills, with Shorts pacing them with 14.
• Gardner added nine kills and a team-high 13 digs.
• Reynolds totalled eight blocks, while Taylor gave out 35 assists.
• Waters, Diehl, and Ros all posted double-digit kills for the Brewers with Ros leading the way with 14.
• Daniel Halberg dished out 28 assists.

• Set scores were 25-19, 25-20, and 29-27. 
• Marymount (11-12) with the score level at 6-6 got kills by Joseph Zanelotti and Sam Safley to go up 8-6.
• Stevenson (22-3) drew even 8-8 with a score by Shorts and an attack error off the hand Miles Olson.
• The with the set tied 9-9, a service error off the hand of Jacob Martinez sparked a 6-3 Mustangs push with kills from Smiley, Reynolds, Gardner, and three straight by Bosko opened a 16-12 lead.
• Kills by Smiley, Shorts, Reynolds, and Gardner ensured Stevenson never trailed again en route to a 25-19 win.
• The visitors got off to the hot start in the second as kills off the arms of Shorts and Gardner gave them a 6-2 advantage.
• Marymount stayed tough closing the gap to within one four separate times to 12-11, before a kill by Shorts led to four of the next five going the way of the Mustangs to 16-12.
• An assisted block between Bosko and Gardner led to the largest lead of the frame at 19-13.
• Stevenson continued to keep the Saints at length as an ace off the arm of Taylor made it 2-0 with a 25-20 victory.
• The Mustangs started the third with a 12-9 before consecutive aces put home by Zanelotti knotting the score 12-12.
• From there Marymount seized momentum with a 5-2 sprint with kills from Remington Shahan and Safley nudged the host in front 17-14.
• With the guests down 20-18, two straight kills put away off the hand of Shorts levelled the score 20-20.
• Marymount moved themselves a point from forcing a fourth on a kill by James Knight, but it was answered with a Smiley kill to guarantee extra points.
• With the score locked at 27-27, a service error from Knight and an assisted block between Shorts and Bosko ended the set and match 29-27.
• The Mustangs hit .271 to the Saints .113.
• Marymount held the edge in aces 7-5.
• Stevenson had an 11-7 advantage in blocks.
• Shorts and Smiley once again led the Mustangs in kills combining for 26, with Shorts posting 14.
• Gardner added six kills and two blocks.
• Bosko paced the side in blocks with five, while Taylor dished out 35 assists.
• Safley had eight kills to lead the Saints.
• Zanelotti gave out 24 helpers.

• Stevenson has now won ten in a row.
• The Mustangs are 14-2 in non-conference games.
• Smiley has recorded double-digit kills in ten matches this season.
• With the two games, tonight Shorts has hit double figures in kills 14 times on the year.

• Stevenson is right back in action tomorrow, Saturday, March, 23 when they visit Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania for a tri-match.  First, the Mustangs face the host Colonels in a MAC conference match at noon, before squaring off against non-conference Penn State-Behrend at with the first serve set for 2pm.
