OWINGS MILLS, Md. - Senior Landon Shorts needed only eight serves on the night before picking up his third ace of the night, which eclipsed the NCAA All-Division record for service aces with 256 surpassing the 255 set by Evan Patak of UC Santa Barbara (2004-07).  On the night his sixth-ranked Mustangs dominated the visiting Widener University Pride in Middle Atlantic Conference action winning by a 3-0 score on Friday night inside of Owings Mills Gymnasium.  Set scores were 25-14, 25-11, and 25-14. 

• Widener (0-9, 0-7 MAC) got out of the blocks first with a kill and an ace for Matt Lambert giving the guests a 2-1 lead.
• Stevenson (16-3, 6-1 MAC) came back with scores by sophomores Garrett Weigel and Drew Duquette sending the home side in front 5-2.
• The Pride continued to hang around as Matt Blaum, Alex Arnow, Kyle Minder, and Lambert to outscore the host 5-4 over the next nine points staying within two 9-7.
• A kill for Duquette and freshman Tanner Stauffer along with a pair of Shorts aces sent the Mustangs on a 7-0 run to open up a 16-7 advantage.
• Widener closed the margin to 18-12 without even recording an offensive point thanks to five home errors.
• Junior Nathan Bosse and Shorts recorded kills and sophomore Aleks Melbardis aided with the help of Bosse picked up a combination block to end the frame on a 7-2 push to win 25-14.
• Stevenson hit .348 with 13 kills and held the visitors to a -.200 on two kills.

• With the Mustangs leading 3-1, Shorts delivered the record-breaking serve ace to make it 4-1.
• After an error by freshman Tyler Aiello, the hosts stormed back with kills from Stauffer, Weigel, and Duquette wrapping up an 8-1 gallop to go ahead 12-3.
• The teams shared the next six points to keep the gap at nine 15-6.
• Four Pride miscues stretched the lead to 21-8.
• Kills for Stauffer and Weigel along with a three-man block by Bosse, Weigel, and Stauffer capped a 4-3 span to give the home team the set 25-11.
• The Mustangs hit .615 as a team in the frame while keeping Widener in the negatives at -.167.

• With Stevenson leading 3-2, kills by Melbardis, Aiello, and Weigel along with two combination blocks extended the edge to 12-4 before a home error brought an end to the attack.
• However, the momentum was not halted for long with Melbardis dropping two aces and Weigel picking up a kill to grab the largest lead of the set to that point 16-5.
• Kills for Lambert, Arnow, and Blaum gave the Pride six of the next ten to cut the deficit under double-digits to 20-11.
• A 4-1 run by the Mustangs coming off of kills from Stauffer and Bosse put the home side a point away from the match 24-12.
• Widener scored the next two before a kill for Stauffer finished the evening 25-14.

• For the match, the Mustangs hit .393 as a team, while the Pride posted a -.100.
• Stauffer led the Mustangs with a game-high and career-high 11 kills.
• Weigel added eight kills, four digs, and four blocks.
• Bosse chipped in five kills and four blocks.
• The record-breaker Shorts had five digs, three kills, three aces and a block in two sets of action.
• Melbardis had a match-high 27 assists.
• Widener got five kills each from Lambert and Arnow.
