STEVENSON, Md. - The Stevenson men's tennis team dropped its MAC Commonwealth semifinal match to visiting Lebanon Valley by a score of 5-4 at the Greenspring Tennis Courts. The Mustangs (13-6, 6-1 MAC Commonwealth), who defeated Lebanon Valley 5-4 on April 21, had only one conference defeat heading into the postseason.  

The match began with the Mustangs dropping two of the three doubles matches. 

Sophomore Andre Sturniolo and junior Douglas Vaughan won their 11th-straight No. 2 doubles match in dominating fashion, 8-1. In No. 1 doubles, senior Wornden Ly and sophomore Ray McDermott fell in their No. 1 match by an 8-5 score, dropping their record to 15-10 on the year.  Freshman Richie Abruscato and junior Andrew Ryan lost their match by the same 8-5 score in No. 3. 

Sturniolo continued his winning ways in No. 2 singles by taking his match in straight-sets, 6-1, 6-2. The win is Sturniolo's 15th-straight in singles play. McDermott won his No. 1 match in straight sets, 6-2, 6-2, giving him 10 wins on the year. 

Vaughan overcame a one-set deficit to take his No. 5 match by a 3-6, 6-0, 6-0 score. The win was Vaughan's 12th of the season.  

Abruscato took the first set of his No. 6 match in a tiebreak, but would drop the match in heartbreaking fashion, 6-7 (6-10), 6-4, 6-4. The loss drops Abruscato's record to 13-5 on the year. 

Ly took the opening set of his No. 3 match to a tiebreak, but would eventually fall 7-6 (10-5), 6-2. Ryan had his 14-match winning streak halted in a 6-4, 1-6, 6-4 defeat in No. 4.
