Mustangs Ease Past Arcadia 21-10

OWINGS MILLS, Md. – Stevenson University never trailed as it posted a 21-10 MAC Commonwealth men's lacrosse victory against Arcadia University Saturday night at Mustang Stadium.

The Mustangs (8-6, 6-0 MAC Commonwealth) won for the eighth time in nine games and their fourth in a row.  Stevenson extended its all-time record in MAC Commonwealth regular season play to 46-0.

Senior Harrison Faecher got the Mustangs on the board just 30 seconds into the game, and the first of six goals by junior JT Thelen put Stevenson on top 2-0 at the 12:49 mark.  After Arcadia (6-6, 2-4 MAC Commonwealth) scored at 4:37 of the first quarter, three goals by the Mustangs in a span of 58 seconds, capped by a Gray McKee tally at 1:51, made it 5-1 after one quarter.

Stevenson scored the first four goals of the second quarter to build a 9-1 lead following a Faecher goal at the 7:29 mark.  Arcadia rattled off three goals over a period of 2:10 to get within 9-4 at the 4:39 mark, but the Mustangs took an 11-5 lead into halftime.  Stevenson outscored Arcadia 7-2 in the third quarter to take an 18-7 lead into the final frame.

Faecher totaled three goals and five assists, while Thelen led the Mustangs with six goals and an assist.  Sophomore Ethan Christensen notched three goals and a pair of assists, with senior Kyle Karsian scoring three times.  McKee recorded two goals and an assist, while freshman Jacob Tatum posted a goal and two assists.  Collin Tucker, Danny Buckwalter and Chris Hammerquist each added single goals.

Sophomore Sam Ross played the first 50:25 in goal and made 11 saves before giving way to senior Marc Poust, who played the final 9:35.  Stevenson outshot Arcadia 73-35, with Arcadia goalies AJ Beck and Brendan Kuzminski combining for 20 saves.  The Mustangs won 29 of the game's 35 faceoffs, with sophomore Justin Burnette going 24-29 and picking up 17 ground balls.  Senior Tom Brown had four ground balls and a caused turnover defensively.

Arcadia was led by two goals and two assists from Austin Williams.

Stevenson returns to action Tuesday afternoon when it travels to Hood College for a 3:30 MAC Commonwealth contest.
