STEVENSON, Md. - The Stevenson men's tennis team defeated St. Mary's (Md.) 7-2 at the Greenspring courts Thursday afternoon.
The Mustangs (11-5) jumped out to a 2-1 lead after doubles and took five of six singles matches.
Andre Sturniolo and Douglas Vaughan pulled out an 8-5 win at No. 2 doubles, while at No. 3, Richie Abruscato and Andrew Ryan were 8-1 victors.
In singles play, Sturniolo won at No. 2 6-1, 6-2, while Wornden Ly survived a first-set tiebreaker to win 7-6 (3), 6-2. Ryan was challenged at No. 4 before prevailing 6-3, 7-5. Vaughan was a 6-1, 6-3 winner at No. 5, while Abruscato took down a 6-2, 6-1 triumph at sixth singles.
The Mustangs, who have won 10 of their last 11 matches, return to action Saturday, hosting Lebanon Valley in a 1:00 pm MAC Commonwealth contest at the Greenspring courts.
