Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

OWINGS MILLS, Md. - Stevenson softball junior Erin Stephey finished with five hits on the day, including a walk off two-RBI single in the opening game, while senior Brooke Steinbach hit her first career home run as the Mustangs split their MAC Commonwealth opener versus Widener Saturday afternoon at Weinberg-Fine Stadium.

The Mustangs (6-6, 1-1 MAC Commonwealth) posted their fifth consecutive win with a 7-6 game one win after trailing by a pair of runs in the bottom of the seventh inning before falling, 5-1 in game two.

Widener (2-6, 1-1 MAC Commonwealth) jumped out to a 3-0 lead through three innings sparked by back-to-back home runs in the first inning, both with two outs. The Pride loaded the bases with no outs in the third inning, scoring on a bases loaded hit by pitch before senior Jasmyn Ogletree got the next three batters out.

After back-to-back singles to open the fourth inning by Ogletree and senior Kate Finnen, Steinbach launched her first career long ball to center field, tying the game with one swing. Steinbach added another RBI in the fifth inning, which tied the game at 4-4.

Trailing, 6-4, entering the bottom of the seventh inning, the Mustangs put runners on first and second with two outs before sophomore Gina D'Andrea scored on an error on a pop-up in the infield to get the hosts within one. With the bases loaded, Stephey took the second pitch up the middle to score two runs in the walk off victory.

Stephey went 3-for-5 with two RBIs in the game while Steinbach finished 2-for-3 with four RBIs and two runs. Ogletree, sophomore Haley Lennon and freshman Alexandra DiGrande all added a pair of hits.

In the second game, the Mustangs recorded a season-high four errors that led to four unearned runs, including three in the third inning. The lone Stevenson run came in the bottom of the seventh inning on a two-out single by Stephey, who finished 2-for-4 at the plate. Ogletree and sophomore Danielle Ebbighausen each went 2-for-3 in the game.

Freshman Haley Monahan scattered seven hits and allowed just one earned run in her first career start while striking out three.

Stevenson returns to action on Sunday, March 18 when the Mustangs travel to Penn State Harrisburg for a non-conference doubleheader. First pitch is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
