ORANGE, Calif. - For the fourth time this season, Stevenson women's lacrosse sophomore Carly Bowes netted a hat trick but the Mustangs were held scoreless for the final 20:10 as Chapman scored four unanswered goals in an 11-9 non-conference victory Thursday evening at Wilson Field.

The Mustangs (1-6) have dropped four games by two goals or less this season and has led in every game but one.

Allie Qualman gave the Panthers (1-6) an early lead with a goal just under four minutes into the contest before Stevenson responded with five straight goals, including a pair by sophomore Kiely Bunce, who also dished out an assist. Sophomore Mallory Davila and freshmen Lindsay Seipp and Lauren Tarnowski also netted goals.

Chapman answered with a 5-1 run of its own to close out the opening half, scoring three times in the final 4:26, including tying the game with 25 seconds remaining after a missed free-position shot by the Mustangs.

Back-to-back goals by Bowes and junior Dana Stevens gave the visitors an 8-6 advantage in the opening five minutes of the second half. Alexandra Callaway got the Panthers back within one before Bowes scored a free-position goal 33 seconds later to push the Mustangs lead back to two.

After falling behind, 9-7 with 20:10 left in regulation, Chapman's defense stepped up, causing six turnovers the rest of the way and holding Stevenson to just two shots. The Mustangs recorded eight of their 23 turnovers over the final 20 minutes of the game.

Danielle Zahn and Stacey Zuppa led the Panthers offense over the final 12:52, as Zahn scored twice while Zuppa scored the go-ahead goal while dishing out a pair of assists.

Senior Jamie Bittner recorded five draw controls, two caused turnovers and two ground balls while also dishing out an assist. She now has 75 career draw controls, which puts her into the top-10 in program history. Bittner also ranks fifth in school history with 68 caused turnovers.

Junior Gabby DiGello finished with a team-high four ground balls while adding three caused turnovers and two draw controls. Sophomore Sarah Roerty had three ground balls, three draw controls and two caused turnovers while junior Amanda Zaykoski had three ground ball and three caused turnovers.

In net, sophomore Mack Ferguson recorded eight saves.

Stevenson returns to action on Sunday, March 25 when the Mustangs warp-up non-conference play when they host Buffalo State. Opening draw is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
