Fifteen Score as No. 12 Mustangs Ease Past Alvernia

READING, Pa. – Senior Wade Korvin totaled five goals and an assist as No. 12 Stevenson University cruised to a 26-3 MAC Commonwealth men's lacrosse victory over Alvernia University at Alvernia Turf Field Thursday afternoon.  The win extends Stevenson's win streak to six games.

The Mustangs (9-3, 6-0 MAC Commonwealth) improved to 38-0 all-time in MAC Commonwealth regular season play.

Sophomore JT Thelen finished with three goals and three assists as a total of 15 Mustangs scored goals.  Junior Kyle Karsian added three goals and an assist, while junior Brandon Watson notched two goals and an assist.  Seniors Sean Ohlhaver and Tyler Fuhrman each scored twice.

Senior Kyle D'Onofrio tallied a goal and three assists, while classmate Bryce Spruill added a goal and an assist.  Morgan Pritchett, Harrison Faecher, Jeremy Goltz, Jared Blum, Beau Schmeusser. Ryan McCarthy and Al Falco each recorded single goals.  It marked the first career goals for Goltz, Blum, Schmeusser, McCarthy and Falco.

Alvernia (3-9, 0-4 MAC Commonwealth) took an early 1-0 lead 2:52 into the game on a goal by Kyle Farrell.  A Karsian goal at the 10:42 mark tie the game, and the Mustangs took the lead for good 12 seconds later as Watson scored.  Stevenson held a 5-1 lead after one quarter, and scored all nine goals of the second quarter, with an Ohlhaver goal 50 seconds before intermission giving the guests a 14-1 lead at the break.

Stevenson scored all seven goals of the third quarter and held the Crusaders scoreless until the 6:05 mark of the fourth quarter when Andrew Ritchie scored, a scoreless string of over 50 minutes.

Senior Ross Dinan played the first half in goal and made a pair of saves, while TJ Ellis made a pair of saves in the third quarter.  Tyler Steinberg and Sam Ross split the fourth quarter and each made a save.

Stevenson outshot Alvernia 84-20 and won 23-30 faceoffs.  Freshman Justin Burnette was 14-17 at the faceoff X and also picked up seven ground balls, while Dominic DeFazio and Tyler Russo each had two caused turnovers.

Stevenson returns to action Tuesday night when it hosts Albright in a 7:00 contest at Mustang Stadium on Senior Night.
