Korvin Scores Eight Times as No. 11 Mustangs Ease Past Arcadia

Box Score

GLENSIDE, Pa. – Senior Wade Korvin scored eight times and also contributed three caused turnovers as No. 11 Stevenson University downed Arcadia University 22-2 in MAC Commonwealth men's lacrosse Saturday at Jean Lenox West Field.

Korvin's eight goals were the most by a Mustang in a game since Mark Pannenton scored eight goals against Hood on March 23, 2013.  It is also one shy of the Stevenson school record of nine goals in a game set by Steve Kazimer on March 1, 2008.

Stevenson (5-3, 2-0 MAC Commonwealth) got goals from 10 different players as it posted its 34th straight conference regular season victory and improved to 34-0 all-time in league play.  Junior Brandon Watson finished with three goals and two assists, while sophomore JT Thelen, senior Tyler Fuhrman and freshman Colin Mason each had two goals, with Mason scoring the first two goals of his collegiate career.

Freshman Ethan Christensen totaled a goal and three assists, while freshman Preston Faecher, senior Kyle D'Onofrio and junior Kyle Karsian each had a goal and an assist.  Senior Parrish Young had the other Mustang tally.

Austin Williams and Nick Ferraro were in the scoring column for Arcadia (2-7, 0-1 MAC Commonwealth).

The Mustangs wasted little time putting the game away, with Korvin scoring 55 seconds into the game.  Stevenson scored 10 goals in the first quarter and six in the second to open up a 16-0 halftime lead, the second straight game it has pitched a first half shutout.  The guests extended the lead to 21-0 after three quarters, with Ferraro spoiling the shutout bid with a man-up goal with 12:54 left.

Stevenson outshot Arcadia 73-18.  The Mustangs used three goalies, with senior Ross Dinan not allowing a goal in the first half and making two saves, before TJ Ellis went the next 17:06 and made four saves.   Tyler Steinberg went the final 12:54 and recorded three stops.  Danny Lipkin made four saves in the first quarter before being relieved by AJ Beck, who registered 19 saves.

The guests won 15-of-26 faceoffs and picked up 15 more ground balls (42-27).  Junior Dominic DeFazio led Stevenson with six caused turnovers, while freshman Justin Burnette had a team-high five ground balls to go along with his 7-10 effort in faceoffs.

Stevenson returns to action Tuesday night when it hosts Lycoming College in a 7:00 MAC Commonwealth contest at Mustang Stadium.
