LANGHORNE, Pa. - The Stevenson men's volleyball team held Cairn to a .000 hitting percentage and just 13 kills as the Mustangs needed just 54 minutes to post a 25-16, 25-9, 25-15 Continental Volleyball Conference victory Friday evening at Mason Activity Center.

It was the first match for the Mustangs (14-8, 5-2 CVC) since March 4 as the team hit above .300 for the sixth time this season. Stevenson also recorded a season-best 14 service aces, its most since January 14, 2016.

After the Highlanders (3-22, 0-8 CVC) scored four of five points to get within 9-7 in the opening set, the Mustangs went on a 4-1 run themselves, including a service ace by senior Kyle Johnson. Johnson finished with a career-high seven service aces.

Stevenson won six of the final eight points to take the opening set, including four consecutive on the serve of Johnson before Johnson assisting on a kill by sophomore Landon Shorts on the final point. Shorts led all players with 11 kills.

Cairn totaled just nine points in the second set as the Mustangs won the opening eight points on the serve of Johnson. Johnson also ended the set with five straight serves, including three consecutive service aces.

The Highlanders took a 6-4 lead in the third set, but it was short lived as the visitors went on a 17-4 run to take a 21-10 lead. Back-to-back attack errors by Cairn gave Stevenson the set and the match.

In addition to 11 kills, Shorts finished with six digs, five service aces and one blocked assist. Johnson recorded 34 assists, three digs and three block assists.

Senior Nate Ellis totaled seven kills, three block assists and two digs while both junior Alex Klunk and sophomore Jason Gardner had five kills.

Stevenson returns to action on Saturday, March 25 when the Mustangs face Alvernia and Rutgers-Newark in CVC play beginning at 3:00 p.m.
