HILTON HEAD, S.C. - The Stevenson men's tennis team fell to non-conference opponent Shepherd University by an 8-1 score in its opening match at the PTR Spring TennisFest.
Senior Tony Beres earned the lone victory for the Mustangs in an exciting 0-6, 7-6 (6-2), 1-0 (6-4) triumph in No. 6 singles.
Senior Bryan Gieselman fell in his No. 1 singles match, 6-1, 6-1, while junior Wornden Ly lost by the same score in No. 2 singles. Earlier in the day, Gieselman and Ly dropped their No. 1 doubles match by an 8-1 score.
Senior Kevin Slujtner picked up three wins in his 6-1, 6-2 defeat in No. 5 singles.
The Mustangs (0-5) continue play at the PTR Spring TennisFest against St. Mary's (Md.) on Monday, March 13.
