REISTERSTOWN, Md. - Stevenson men's ice hockey freshman Jake Lainesse scored with 0.7 seconds remaining in regulation as the Mustangs avoided their second straight shutout in a 6-1 ECAC West loss versus Nazareth Saturday evening at Reisterstown Sportsplex.

The Mustangs (9-13-2, 4-9-1 ECAC West) currently sit a game and a half ahead of Elmira for the sixth and final spot but the Soaring Eagles still have two conference games remaining against current third place Hobart.

In a game that had Stevenson in the box nine times, the Golden Flyers (8-14-2, 7-6-0 ECAC West) scored three power-play goals to held lead Nazareth to a regular season split with the Mustangs after falling 4-3 earlier in the season.

Oliver Janzen registered three assists while Austin Romzek finished with two goals. Romzek has totaled five points on three goals and two assists versus the Mustangs. Meanwhile, Dominik Gabaj had two goals and an assist for the visitors.

Freshmen Evan Williams and Alfred Panelin-Borg picked up assists on the Lainesse goal. It is the third assist in the last six games for Williams and is the first point for Panelin-Borg in his last 10 games after recording nine points in his first 12 games.

The Mustangs recorded eight blocked shots, including three by freshman Hunter Brody. Meanwhile, classmate Dominic Brenza finished 14-for-21 on the face-off.

Nazareth held a 32-21 advantage in shots and won 43 of the 80 face-offs.

Stevenson concludes its inaugural regular season when the Mustangs host a non-conference contest versus Lebanon Valley on Friday, February 17. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
