BROCKPORT, N.Y. - Stevenson men's ice hockey freshman Christian Ripley scored the game's lone goal while junior Jacob Caffrey posted his first career shutout as the Mustangs defeated Brockport, 1-0, in a non-conference contest Friday evening at Tuttle North Ice Arena.

It was the first shutout in program history for the Mustangs (8-5-2) who extended their unbeaten streak to six games. The team has also won three of its last four since the start of the New Year and improved to a perfect 5-0-0 in one-goal games.

The lone goal came in the second period as Ripley extended his point streak to five games while scoring a goal in his fourth consecutive. Junior Jordan Watt had the lone assist and has tallied a point in five of his last six games.

When Ripley has scored a goal this season, the Mustangs have posted a 6-0-1 record. Meanwhile, Stevenson is unbeaten when Watt tallies a point.

The Golden Eagles (5-8-1) outshot the Mustangs, 34-16, and finished 0-for-3 on the power-play. Stevenson did not have any power-play opportunities as Brockport stayed out of the box.

Caffrey finished with 34 saves, including 13 in the third period. The Mustangs defense finished with 17 blocked shots, with five coming from freshman Xavier Abdella. Abdella leads the team with 17 this season.

Stevenson returns to action on Saturday, January 14 when the Mustangs face sixth-ranked Geneseo in a non-conference game beginning at 3:00 p.m.
