Mustangs Blanked in 2-0 Setback at Hampden-Sydney

HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, Va. - The Stevenson men's soccer team failed to score for the first time in three games as the Mustangs suffered a 2-0 defeat versus Hampden-Sydney Sunday afternoon at Miller Field.

The Mustangs (0-2-1), who opened the season with three road games in four days, placed just five of its 16 shots on frame. It was also the third consecutive game Stevenson was outshot as Hampden-Sydney held a 16-12 advantage.

William Jackson scored the Tigers (3-0-0) eventual game-winning goal in the 25th minute as his shot from 19 yards out beat an outstretched Michael Tringali to the back left post. The senior recorded seven saves.

Hampden-Sydney added an insurance goal in the 86th minute as Andrew Miller scored an unassisted tally. The Tigers also held a 5-2 advantage in corner kicks.

Stevenson returns to action on Friday, September 9 when the Mustangs host York (Pa.) in their home opener beginning at 7:00 p.m. The Mustangs will host six of their next seven games.
