Men's Tennis Falls to Catholic, 8-1

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Stevenson men's tennis team fell by an 8-1 score to host Catholic in their final team match before the MAC Individual Championships. 

Sophomore Douglas Vaughan and senior Kevin Slujtner picked up lone victory for the Mustangs (0-2) with an 8-5 triumph in No. 2 doubles. 

Junior Wornden Ly and senior Bryan Gieselman dropped their No. 1 doubles match by an 8-4 score, while senior Tony Beres and sophomore Peter Appiah Jr. fell in the No. 3 doubles match, 8-5.

Slujtner overcame a one set deficit in his No. 3 singles match, but would eventually fall in a third-set tiebreaker, 6-3, 3-6, 1-0 (7). 

Vaughan had a 6-1, 7-5 setback in No. 5 singles and Gieselman lost his No. 1 singles match in straight sets.

The Mustangs compete next in the Middle Atlantic Conference Individual Championships, hosted by King's College and Wilkes University, starting on Friday, October 7.
