Box Score OWINGS MILLS, Md. – Thirteen different players registered a goal as the No. 15 Stevenson University men's lacrosse team cruised to a 23-2 win over Arcadia University Saturday night at Mustang Stadium in MAC Commonwealth action. The Mustangs have won five straight and seven of their last eight.
Stevenson (8-4, 3-0 MAC Commonwealth), improved to 27-0 all-time in MAC Commonwealth regular season play. The Mustangs were led by senior Matt Tompkins with four goals and three assists, while classmate Stephen Banick totaled three goals and four assists. Junior Wade Korvin totaled three goals and a pair of assists, while senior Pat Candon, junior Sean Ohlhaver and sophomore Kyle Karsian each recorded a pair of goals, with Candon adding an assist.
Junior Kyle D'Onofrio finished with a goal and three assists. Freshman Chris Hammerquist posted his first collegiate goal, while senior Jason Moffitt scored his first goal of the season. Juniors Morgan Pritchett, Julian Jackson and Parish Young and sophomore Harrison Faecher each added single tallies.
Arcadia (2-8, 0-3 MAC Commonwealth) got goals from Joe Stanton and Brandon Feeney.
Korvin scored for Stevenson just 36 seconds into the game to kick off an seven-goal first quarter barrage for the Mustangs, giving them an 8-0 lead after one quarter. The hosts scored the first five goals of the second quarter before Stanton got the Knights on the board 3:56 before intermission. Korvin scored a man-up goal at the 2:06 mark to give Stevenson a 13-1 halftime advantage.
Stevenson scored all seven goals of the third quarter and a tally by Karsian as time expired in the third extended the lead to 20-1. Feeney scored just over a minute in before goals by Jackson, Moffitt and Hammerquist closed out the game's scoring.
The Mustangs outshot Arcadia 80-12 on the evening and won 22-of-28 faceoffs while also collecting 60 ground balls to 30 for the Knights. A.J. Beck and Danny Lipkin combined to make 15 saves in goal for the guests, while five Mustang goalies combined to make four saves. The hosts were also 4-5 in man-up situations on the evening.
Senior Chad Williams had a team-high three caused turnovers for Stevenson, while junior Nathaniel LeQuang was 13-16 on faceoffs and picked up five ground balls.
Stevenson returns to action on Wednesday afternoon, traveling to Lycoming College for a 3:30 MAC Commonwealth contest.
