LUTHERVILLE, Md. - The Stevenson men's tennis team won its 10th match in a row in a 6-3 triumph over Lebanon Valley at the Green Spring Racquet Club. Junior Bryan Gieselman picked up victories in both singles and doubles play to help the Mustangs (12-5, 6-0) remain undefeated in MAC Commonwealth play.
Gieselman, who was recently named MAC Commonwealth Player of the Week for the second time this season, teamed up with junior Troy Derrick to pick up an 8-2 win in No. 1 doubles. He then went on to win his third singles match in a row after defeating his No. 1 opponent in straight sets, 6-2, 6-4.
Senior Peter Hoblitzell won his sixth match in a row in No. 2 singles with a dramatic 6-4, 6-7 (4-10), 1-0 (10-7) victory, while Derrick won his 11th straight with a 6-4, 6-2 triumph. Derrick is now 13-2 on the season in singles play.
In No. 4 singles, senior Conrad Ellis won his 10th straight with a dominant 6-1, 6-0 victory. Junior Zach Borgerding improved his record to 12-5 with a 6-0, 6-1 win in No. 5 singles.
The match was moved to the Green Spring Racquet Club due to the threat of inclement weather.
The Mustangs will play in their final home match of the regular season when they take on Elizabethtown in a non-conference showdown on Thursday, April 28 at 4:00 pm.
