Box Score 2 OWINGS MILLS, Md. - The senior trio of Molly Hoyt, Kristen Mueller and Emily Soller all totaled two hits in game two as the Stevenson softball team overcame a one-hit game to post a non-conference doubleheader split versus Catholic Sunday afternoon at Weinberg-Fine Stadium.
The Mustangs (13-21) were held to a season-low one hit in the opener as they were shutout, 9-0 in five innings. The team battled back in game-two, scoring the game-tying and game-winning runs in the bottom of the sixth for a 5-4 victory.
Using three walks and two hit by pitches, the Cardinals (21-9) scored four runs in the third inning to break open a scoreless tie. Catholic added three runs in the fourth and two of the fifth all on nine hits.
Stevenson ruined Kelly Lynch's no hitter as sophomore Jasmyn Ogletree recorded a hit in the bottom of the fifth.
After falling behind 2-0 in the first inning of game two, Stevenson rallied to tie the game at 2-2 as Soller hit an RBI single to centerfield to score Mueller from second. Soller than hit a two-out double in the third inning to move Hoyt to third who came around to score an unearned run.
Each team scored a run in the fifth inning before the Cardinals took a 4-3 lead on a two-out RBI double down the left field line in the sixth. But the Mustangs responded with two unearned runs in the bottom of the inning after a throwing error by the catcher on steal attempt.
Catholic loaded the bases in the top of the seventh with two outs, but senior Laura Welch got the next batter to ground out to earn her first victory of the season.
Stevenson returns to action on Wednesday, April 24 when the Mustangs travel to McDaniel for a non-conference doubleheader beginning at 3:00 p.m.
