STEVENSON, Md. - The Stevenson men's tennis team won their sixth match in a row with a 9-0 triumph over MAC Commonwealth opponent Hood at the Greenspring courts. Senior Peter Hoblitzell and junior Bryan Gieselman teamed up for their seventh straight win in No. 1 doubles with an 8-1 victory.
Hoblitzell improved his singles record to 9-4 with a 6-2, 6-2 win in his No. 2 match, while Gieselman won a 7-2 tiebreak in the first set of his No. 1 singles match en route to a 7-6, 6-1 victory.
Junior Troy Derrick and senior Conrad Ellis won their seventh straight match in No. 2 doubles with an 8-0 triumph. Derrick, who was named MAC Commonwealth Player of the week last week, won his No. 3 singles match in straight sets, 6-2, 6-2 for his seventh straight win.
Ellis won his sixth straight match with a 6-1, 6-0 win in No. 4 singles.
Freshman Zach Borgerding improved his record to 9-4 after winning in No. 5 singles, 6-4, 6-2, while freshman Douglas Vaughn picked up a 6-1, 6-1 win in No. 6.
The Mustangs (8-5, 3-0) continue their conference schedule with a match at Arcadia on Saturday, April 16 at 11:00 am.
