ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. - The Stevenson men's tennis team won its fifth match in a row with a thrilling 5-4 non-conference road victory at St. Mary's.
With both teams tied at four matches apiece, freshman Douglas Vaughn pulled off a 7-6 (10-8), 6-4 victory in No. 6 singles to clinch the win for the Mustangs (7-5, 2-0).
Junior Troy Derrick and senior Conrad Ellis picked up a win in their No. 2 doubles match, 8-4. Ellis and Derrick have won six straight doubles matches and are now 7-2 on the year.
Derrick won his sixth straight singles match with a 6-4, 4-6, 6-3 triumph in No. 3, which improved his record to 8-2.
Ellis won his No. 4 singles match in straight sets by a 6-2, 6-1 margin. Ellis has now won five straight matches.
Senior Peter Hoblitzell won his No. 2 singles match in straights sets, 6-4, 6-1, improving his record to 8-4.
The Mustangs compete next when they host Hood in the President's Game on Tuesday, April 12 at 3:30 pm.
