STEVENSON, Md. - The Stevenson men's tennis team dropped it's spring opener to visiting York by a score of 5-4 at the Greenspring Tennis Courts. Senior Peter Hoblitzell picked up a singles and doubles victory in the loss.
Hoblitzell teamed up with junior Bryan Gieselman in No. 2 doubles to pick up an 8-0 win. Hoblitzell then went on to take his No. 2 singles match in straight sets 7-6, 6-1.
Troy Derrick won his No. 4 singles match in straight-sets 6-4, 6-0, while freshman Zack Borgerding also won his No. 5 singles match-up in two sets, 6-2, 6-1.
Senior Conrad Ellis won the first set in his No. 3 singles match, 6-2, but would go on to drop the next two, 6-4, 6-3. Ellis also fell in a close No. 2 doubles match alongside Derrick, 8-6.
Gieselman took his No. 1 singles match to three sets, but fell 6-1, 5-7, 6-4.
The Mustangs compete next against Shenandoah on Sunday, March 6 at 12:00 pm at the Greenspring Tennis Courts.
