Box Score FREDERICK, Md. – A total of 13 different players scored as the 20th-ranked Stevenson University men's lacrosse team cruised to a 20-9 win over Hood College in MAC Commonwealth action Saturday afternoon at Thomas Athletic Field. Stevenson (5-4, 2-0 MAC Commonwealth) has now won four of its last five games.
Stevenson extended its MAC Commonwealth regular season winning streak to 26 games, having going 26-0 since joining the conference prior to the 2013 season.
Junior Kyle D'Onofrio and sophomore Kyle Karsian led the Mustangs with three goals apiece, while senior Pat Candon tallied two goals and two assists. Senior Stephen Banick registered a goal and five assists, while senior Matt Tompkins and junior Parish Young finished with two goals apiece.
Hood (4-4, 0-1 MAC Commonwealth) was paced by Grayson Zubradt's three goals, while Tai Foster added a pair of scores.
Banick got the Mustangs on the board just 36 seconds into the contest before Young gave Stevenson a 2-0 lead at the 13:39 mark. The guests opened up a 6-0 lead after one quarter, with Foster scoring the Blazers' first goal 13 seconds into the second period. Stevenson held a 9-3 lead when it reeled off the final four goals of the second quarter, with a goal by freshman Wesley Reid 1:08 before intermission giving the Mustangs a 13-3 lead at halftime.
Stevenson held a 16-4 lead after three quarters and extended the lead to 19-4 with the first three goals of the fourth before Hood scored five of the game's final six goals.
The Mustangs held a 82-33 shot advantage in the game and won 21-of-32 faceoffs while also collecting 57 ground balls to Hood's 34. Freshman goalie Garrett Egnaczyk played the first half in goal and made 13 saves before giving way to senior Connor Skeen, who had seven saves in 25:03. Junior Ross Dinan relieved Skeen and went the rest of the way. Hood counterpart John Hoffman made 29 saves.
Defensively, senior Taylor Morgan and sophomore Dom DeFazio each had three of Stevenson's season-high 16 caused turnovers on the afternoon and also picked up six ground balls apiece. Tompkins had seven ground ball pickups, while junior Wade Korvin had five to go along with his goal and an assist.
Stevenson is idle until next Saturday when it travels to No. 16 Lynchburg College for a 7:00 contest.
