FOND DU LAC, Wis. - The Stevenson men's volleyball team extended its win streak to three while improving to 15-6 away from Owings Mills Gymnasium with back-to-back wins over Marian and Lakeland Monday evening at Sadoff Gymnasium.
The Mustangs (21-6) have won eight of their last nine and move five wins closer to tying the program record with 26 wins set in 2011 and 2013. The team also improved to 5-1 in four-set matches and 15-1 in three-set matches.
In an opening 25-18, 27-29, 25-23, 25-21 victory over the host Sabres (8-10), freshman Landon Shorts posted a team-high 15 kills, seven digs and three service aces. Shorts has totaled double digit kills in 14 matches this season.
Stevenson hit over .400 in the three sets it won, include .471 in the third set after dropping the second. The Mustangs totaled 17 kills on 34 swings with just one error.
Juniors Nate Ellis and Nicholas Gross finished with nine and eight kills, respectively. The duo combined for a .577 hitting percentage.
Versus the Muskies (15-6), Stevenson recorded 18 block assists that led them to a 25-21, 25-17, 25-17 win. Schuyler led all players with 13 kills.
Ellis and junior Michael Fehrs each recorded five block assists and combined for 11 kills while senior Kyle Pottieger finished with six kills and four block assists. Shorts totaled seven kills, six digs and four service aces.
Meanwhile, senior Rob Wingert had a game-high 12 digs in addition to 31 assists.
Stevenson returns home for two of its final three regular season matches as the Mustangs host a Continental Volleyball Conference contest versus Marymount (Va.) at 7:00 p.m. Stevenson defeated the Saints in straight-sets earlier in the season.
