Box Score CHESTERTOWN, Md. - The trio of senior Kellie McLaughlin and juniors Brady Heher and McKenzie Reese each tallied two goals but the Stevenson women's lacrosse team could not keep pace with No. 19 Washington (Md.) Thursday afternoon at Roy Kirby Jr. Stadium.
The Mustangs (0-4) are 4-4 on the road dating back to last season, including 4-2 over the last six games. The team has been outscored 23-10 in the second half this season.
It took just 1:21 for the Shorewomen (3-0) to get on the board as Madison Acra scored a free-position goal. Stevenson responded 52 seconds later as Reese scored in her fourth straight game. The transfer junior has scored five goals to start the year.
Anna Inserra took the ensuing draw control and found Alli Dudley to reclaim the lead for the hosts just nine seconds later. The goal sparked a 9-2 run for Washington (Md.) and claim a 10-3 lead.
The second goal by Reese halted the Shorewomen's run before Katherine Vincent and Cecily Docktor scored back-to-back goals for a 12-4 halftime lead. McLaughlin scored her two goals in the opening half for the Mustangs.
Highlighted by two goals by Dockter, Washinton (Md.) scored four consecutive goals in the second half before Heher scored the game's final two goal, both on free-position shots.
Senior Maggie Lawder totaled seven saves in 48:55 before giving way to freshman Hannah DePadua who tallied four saves.
The Mustangs won just seven of the 25 draw controls while getting outshot, 39-19. The team finished 3-for-8 on free position shots, including 1-for-6 in the opening half.
Stevenson returns to action on Monday, March 14 when the Mustangs face Colby-Sawyer in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Opening face-off is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
