ARLINGTON, Va. - Led by a combined 22 kills by freshmen Landon Shorts and Jason Gardner, the 10th-ranked Stevenson men's volleyball team recorded a season-best .432 attack percentage in a 25-19, 25-22, 25-16 Continental Volleyball Conference victory over Marymount (Va.) Wednesday evening at Verizon Sports Arena.

The Mustangs (6-2, 3-0 CVC) have posted straight-set victories in all three conference wins this season and have recorded five consecutive victories. All five wins have come in straight-sets.

Tied 15-15 in the first set, Stevenson went on a 10-4 run to close the set. The Saints (4-3, 2-1 CVC) totaled four attack errors and a service error during the run. The Mustangs hit .560 in the opening frame, totaling 16 kills compared to just two errors.

Marymount (Va.) nearly erased a seven point deficit late in the second set, getting as close as 23-21 but two errors by the Saints gave the visitors a two sets lead.

Stevenson held the hosts to a -.050 attack percentage as the Mustangs won seven of the final ten points.

Shorts finished with a game-high 12 kills and a .529 attack percentage while also adding three service aces and two block assists. Gardner totaled 10 kills, five digs and two service aces.

Senior Kyle Pottieger totaled seven kills on 10 attempts and added three block assists and two digs. Classmate Rob Wingert finished with 35 assists, four digs, two kills and two block assists.

Stevenson returns to action on Friday, February 12 when the Mustangs travel to Juniata for a CVC contest beginning at 7:00 p.m.
