Box Score 2 PITTSBURGH, Pa. - Led by 27 kills and 22 digs by sophomore Annika Schwartz, the Stevenson women's volleyball team dropped back-to-back matches versus Case Western Reserve and No. 25 Mount Union Saturday afternoon at the Carnegie Mellon DoubleTree Invitational at Skibo Gymnasium.
The Mustangs fell to the Spartans, who are receiving votes in the latest AVCA Division III Coaches Poll, 23-25, 17-25, 23-25, before falling in four sets to the Raiders, 18-25, 25-18, 17-25, 21-25.
Against Case Western Reserve (13-1), five players totaled at least 10 digs, including 15 by both Schwartz and sophomore Deanna Bradbury. But the Spartans totaled a .320 attack percentage with 53 kills while adding eight block assists and one solo block.
It was the eighth game this season that Schwartz has totaled at least 10 kills and 10 assists in a match as she also recorded 11 kills. She has done that 16 times in her career.
Carolyn Bogart led the Spartans with 20 kills while Katie Best recorded 17 digs.
In game two against Mount Union (11-5), the Mustangs totaled 50 kills compared to 36 for the Raiders but Stevenson totaled a season-high 32 errors and finished with a .109 attack percentage.
Junior Kristen Brooks totaled 14 kills and 14 digs while Bradbury totaled 19 digs. It is the 13th time this season that Bradbury has totaled at least 10 digs. She has totaled 265 digs in 18 matches this season after recording 213 all of last season.
Schwartz recorded a match-high 16 kills on 49 attempts. Both Schwartz and junior Sara Bollinger totaled two service aces while Bollinger added 44 assists.
Stevenson returns to action on Wednesday, September 30 when the Mustangs travel to local-rival McDaniel beginning at 7:00 p.m.
