Box Score 2 OWINGS MILLS, Md. - Junior Kristen Muller totaled five hits and two home runs while freshman Jasmyn Ogletree posted her third complete game shutout and five RBIs as the Stevenson softball team swept a non-conference doubleheader versus McDaniel Wednesday afternoon at Weinberg-Fine Stadium.
The Mustangs (15-16) posted their third shutout of the season and fifth doubleheader sweep after posting a 5-0 victory in game one before a 8-6 win in game two.
Ogletree needed just 13 pitches to get through the first two innings, allowing just one hit as Stevenson's defense turned its first of two double plays in the game.
Following a leadoff double and a stolen base by Mueller, junior Kaitlyn Seger totaled one of her two RBIs to score the first run of the game. Mueller finished the game 3-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, two RBIs and a home run.
Seger totaled her lone hit of the game, an RBI single through the left side to score Mueller in the fifth inning to give the hosts a 2-0 lead. The Mustangs added insurance runs with a three-run sixth inning on a sacrifice fly by senior Courtney Cook before a two-run homer by Mueller.
It is the second seven-inning shutout for Ogletree who allowed just three hits with striking out two. Meanwhile, freshman Kate Finnen was 3-for-3 for her third three-hit game of the season.
The Mustangs had seven players bat in the first inning of game two as the hosts built an early 2-0 lead. Junior Laura Welch hit a sacrifice to score Mueller before junior Molly Hoyt had an RBI single.
A leadoff homer in the second inning by Jamie Weisser cut the Green Terrors (22-10) lead to just one but Ogletree had a two-RBI single in the third to extend Stevenson's lead to three.
McDaniel hit another leadoff homer in the fourth inning before adding three more runs, two unearned to take a 5-4 lead.
Mueller tied the game with one swing as she hit her second home run of the day before a single to center field by Ogletree scored two runs as the Mustangs reclaimed the lead.
The Green Terror scored a run in the fifth inning but Ogletree answered with her career-best fifth RBI in the sixth. Ogletree and Hoyt went a combined 8-for-8 while Mueller, Finnen and senior Abbey DeFeo all totaled two hits.
Hoyt earned her first win of the season after pitching 2.0 innings while senior Briana Pichalski picked up her first save of the year after pitching the final 2.0 innings.
Stevenson returns to action on Saturday, April 25 when the Mustangs travel to Lycoming for the final Commonwealth Conference regular season doubleheader of the season. First pitch is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
