Box Score 2 OWINGS MILLS, Md. - For the third time in the last five years, the Stevenson men's volleyball team captured an ECAC championship, defeating Wentworth on Saturday at Owings Mills Gymnasium to win the 2015 ECAC Division III Men's Volleyball Championship, 25-20, 17-25, 25-18, 25-23.
The Mustangs (19-14), who just missed their fifth-straight 20-win season, have appeared in an ECAC championship match in four of the last five seasons while winning ECAC South titles in 2011 and 2013.
Stevenson is just the third team since 2003 to win a combined ECAC championship, joining Hunter in 2010 and Wentworth in 2014. From 2003-09 and 2011-13, the ECAC conducted separate championships in the North and South regions.
Ironically, the Mustangs' 2015 title came against the team that beat them a year ago.
After totaling 38 assists and six digs versus Wentworth and 35 assists and seven digs against Hunter, senior David Moler was named the Most Outstanding Player. He finishes his career with a school-record 4,434 career assists.
Junior Patrick Schuyler totaled 22 kills and 16 digs in the two matches, including 13 kills and nine digs versus Wentworth, while sophomore Nate Ellis had 19 kills, a .375 hitting percentage and 10 total blocks in two matches.
Junior Kyle Pottieger added 11 kills, seven digs and three total blocks in the championship match.
As a team, Stevenson finished the day with 83 kills and a .223 hitting percentage as well as 95 digs and 31 total blocks, limiting their two opponents to a combined .067 hitting percentage.
