ARLINGTON, Va. - With 14 kills, Stevenson men's volleyball senior Kyle Wisner led six players who had at least six, including junior Patrick Schuyler who had seven kills and seven digs as the Mustangs defeated Marymount (Va.) in a CVC road contest Wednesday, 27-25, 14-25, 26-24, 25-22.
Stevenson (15-10) has now won three-straight and eight of its last 11. The team is currently in third place in the CVC, just a half-a-game behind Rutgers-Newark. The two teams meet Friday in New Jersey.
Sophomore Nate Ellis posted eight kills while freshman Alex Klunk, sophomore Michael Fehrs and junior Kyle Pottieger each had six. Pottieger also had six digs.
Junior Rob Wingert had 16 assists and four digs as he got the start over senior David Moler who finished with 20 assists.
T.J. Wiechecki led the Saints (11-18) with 14 kills while Albert Johansson had six kills and six digs. Erich Bratke totaled three kills, 36 assists and six digs while Jordan Pawlick posted a match-high 11 digs.
Game time for Friday's match with Rutgers-Newark is at 7:00 p.m. The Scarlet Raiders edged out a five-set victory over the Mustangs in the first meeting between the two on March 6, 25-22, 25-21, 21-25, 21-25, 15-12.
