Box Score GRANTHAM, Pa. – The Stevenson field hockey team fell to top-seeded Messiah 6-0, in their first-ever MAC Commonwealth Championship appearance on Saturday at Anderson Field.
The Mustangs (12-9) held an 11-7 advantage in penalty corners, but Messiah held a 23-8 shot advantage on the afternoon.
The Falcons (15-5) got on the board just under nine minutes into the game when Carissa Gehman scored off of a pass from Kristin Donohue on a penalty corner.
Five minutes later, the hosts were able to extend their lead with two goals in 1:14 of play. Messiah's Moriah Pfautz added one before Gehman scored her second of the game, putting Messiah up, 3-0.
At 16:24, Stevenson junior goalie Kim Hahr totaled three-straight saves, but Gehman connected on Messiah's fourth shot, giving her a hatrick and Messiah a 4-0 advantage.
As time ran out in the first half, Messiah was awarded a penalty corner where Pfautz scored her second goal of the game, giving the Falcons a 5-0 lead entering the half.
The Mustangs held the hosts to six shots and a single goal in the second half, but were not able to get on the board. Messiah won it's ninth-straight MAC Commonwealth Championship, 6-0.
Hahr totaled seven saves in the game.
The Mustangs will await selections for the upcoming ECAC Championships. Teams will be announced Monday, November 9.
