GLENSIDE, Pa. - Stevenson softball sophomore Tiffany Kahl totaled five hits but the Mustangs totaled six errors as they dropped their second consecutive Commonwealth Conference doubleheader, 2-1 and 8-4 versus Arcadia Sunday afternoon at Blankley Field.
The Mustangs (11-12, 1-5 MAC) have dropped four-straight and six of their last seven. Four of those losses have been decided by one run.
For the sixth-straight game Stevenson has allowed a first inning run as Sara Boyadjisin doubled down the left field line to drive in the runner from third in game one.
The Knights (8-4, 5-5 MAC) scored a second run in the bottom of the fifth after a failed pickoff at second base allowing the runner to score from third unearned.
For the fourth time, the Mustangs got the leadoff runner on base as Kahl singled through the left side in the top of the sixth. Senior Kristen Fassler followed with a single to center field with both runners advancing on the throw.
With two outs, sophomore Molly Hoyt reached on a fielding error to allow Kahl to score unearned to cut the deficit to just one. But Stevenson could not advance the runner from third.
The Mustangs, who totaled a season-high four errors, were caught stealing for the first time in their last 22 attempts. The team is 38-for-45 in stolen base attempts this season.
Junior Briana Pichalski took the loss after allowing only five hits and one earned run.
In game two, it was the Mustangs who got on the board in the first inning. After picking up two quick outs, Stevenson fired off three-straight hits including an RBI single by senior Lindsay Kuczak that scored Kahl from third.
In the bottom of the fourth, Arcadia loaded the bases before Alicia McMahon drew a full count walk followed by a sacrifice fly by Sarah Gunia to put the Knights up 2-1.
In the ensuing inning, the Mustangs loaded the bases and would tie the game at two after Kuczak drove in her second RBI of the day.
The Knights for the second consecutive time would load the bases in the bottom of the fifth and would go on to score four runs on three singles and a sacrifice fly.
After two outs to start the inning in the top of the sixth, Stevenson would match Arcadia, loading the bases for its second consecutive time. Kahl would drive in two runs with a single up the middle to cut the Knights' lead to 6-4. However, Arcadia would score two unearned runs in the bottom of the sixth with back-to-back singles with two outs.
Hoyt took the loss allowing just two earned runs on seven hits in five innings.
