ANNVILLE, Pa. - After holding the Stevenson softball team scoreless in the first game, No. 13 Lebanon Valley broke a 1-1 tie in the bottom of the sixth in game two en route to a doubleheader Commonwealth Conference sweep, 6-0 and 2-1, in a rematch of the 2013 Conference Championship game to remain unbeaten Saturday afternoon at LVC Softball Park.
The Mustangs (11-10, 1-3 MAC) totaled one more hit than the defending Commonwealth Conference Champions, but Stevenson finished the day 1-for-9 with runners in scoring position.
In game one, the Dutchmen (17-0, 8-0 MAC) got on the board early as Emily Johnson and Jordyn Miller hit back-to-back two RBI doubles as Lebanon Valley lead 4-0.
After going three-and-out in the first two innnings, sophomore Kaitlyn Seger got the Mustangs first hit as Stevenson got on base in each of the final five innings, matching Lebanon Valley with seven hits.
After totaling three hits in the first inning, Lebanon Valley would finish with just four more hits over the final five innings. Angela Harris added an RBI in the fourth scoring Miller who advanced to third on a wild pitch before Allie Hartman added the Dutchmen's third RBI double of the game.
The Mustangs had their best scoring chance in the top of the sixth with runners on second and third with one out. But the 2013 Commonwealth Conference Pitcher of the Year, Sam Derr, was able to get the final two outs for her eighth win of the year.
Junior Briana Pichalski tied her season-high with four strikeouts while Seger finished the game 2-for-3.
In game two, the Dutchmen got on the board in the first inning on an unearned run.
Sophomore Laura Welch hit a two out double before fellow sophomore Kristen Mueller totaled her team leading 13th RBI to tie the game at one.
The Dutchmen would score the game-winning run in the bottom of the sixth on a sacrifice fly by Jorey Aumiller.
Sophomore Molly Hoyt took the loss, allowing just four hits and one earned run. Derr got the win after pitching 2.1 innings in relief.
Stevenson returns to action tomorrow, Sunday, April 6 when it travels to Arcadia for a Commonwealth Conference doubleheader. First pitch is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
