Box Score 2 OWINGS MILLS, Md. - The Stevenson softball team scored four unanswered runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to overcome a 5-4 deficit en route to a Commonwealth Conference doubleheader split with Albright on Senior Day Saturday afternoon at Weinberg-Fine Stadium.
The Mustangs (16-21, 5-11 MAC), who fell 9-6 in game one before rallying for an 8-5 game two victory, earned their sixth conference split and remain at .500 at home.
Stevenson took a 1-0 lead in game one after an RBI single by sophomore Molly Hoyt in the second inning. However, the Lions (10-19, 5-11 MAC) scored nine runs over the next three innings as the Mustangs committed six errors.
Hoyt finished 2-for-3 with one RBI while allowing two earned runs on six hits with two strikeouts. Meanwhile, junior Abbey DeFeo went 2-for-3 with one RBI and one run while senior Lindsay Kuczak also totaled two hits.
The Mustangs, who finished with four doubles and one stolen base, totaled a season-high seven errors while the Lions finished with two.
In game two, each team put up a run in the first inning including an RBI triple by senior Kristen Fassler to score sophomore Tiffany Kahl. Stevenson would add three more runs in the second inning to take a 4-1 lead after a RBI single by DeFeo and a two-RBI single by Kahl.
Albright scored four runs in the fifth inning, including three with the bases loaded. Trailing 5-4, the Mustangs responded by loading the bases in the bottom of the sixth en route to score four runs.
Kahl finished 3-for-4 with two RBIs and one run while DeFeo finished 2-for-3 with one RBI and two runs. Junior Briana Pichalski earned her career-best ninth victory this season.
In pregame ceremonies, the Mustangs honored seniors Brianna Dieter, Fassler and Kuczak.
Stevenson concludes its 2014 schedule when the Mustangs host sixth-ranked Salisbury on Sunday, April 27 in a non-conference doubleheader. First pitch is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
