ST. DAVIDS, Pa. - The Stevenson men's tennis team defeated Eastern University 5-4 in a tightly contested Freedom Conference match, Thursday afternoon at The Tennis Complex.
In singles action, three Mustangs won their matches including junior James Bishoff and sophomores Conrad Ellis and Peter Hoblitzell. Bishoff defeated Mylon Weaver 6-0, 6-2 while Hoblitzell beat Kyle Berner 6-3, 6-4. Ellis took his match to three sets taking down Tyler Schultz 6-0, 4-6, 6-1.
In doubles action, Ellis teamed up with freshman Bryan Gieselman defeating Landon Walter and Tyler Schultz 8-4, giving the partners their second-consecutive win and seventh of the season.
Hoblitzell and senior Anthony Carle took down Mitchell Weaver and Kyle Berner 8-2, conceding the least amount of games in a doubles match that afternoon.
The Mustangs return to action at home on Tuesday, April 22 in a non-conference match versus the University of Maryland Eastern Shore beginning at 2 p.m.
