Mustangs Stay Unbeaten in Conference With 14-5 Win at Lebanon Valley

ANNVILLE, Pa. - Eight different goal scorers pushed the Stevenson men's lacrosse team past Lebanon Valley in a Commonwealth Conference contest as the third-ranked Mustangs continued their strong push into the second half of the season with a 15-4 victory at Arnold Field.

With the win, Stevenson (12-1, 5-0 MAC) notched its 13th-straight conference victory since joining the Commonwealth Conference prior to the 2013 season. The team also extended its road winning streak to six.

Sophomore Joe Balestrieri got the Mustangs on the board just 57 seconds into the game with his fifth goal goal of the season assisted by sophomore Stephen Banick. Banick added the first of his two goals at 12:31 as Stevenson jumped out to a 2-0 lead.

Ryan Lanigan pulled the Dutchmen within one just 10 seconds later before junior Billy Burgoyne scored the first of his three goals to start a three-goal spurt for the Mustangs who led 5-1 after one.

Burgoyne and Banick each added second quarter tallies as Stevenson built a 7-2 halftime lead before outscoring Lebanon Valley 7-3 in the second half, including 4-0 in the fourth quarter.

Burgoyne netted his third hat trick of the season while Banick finished with two goals and four assists. Senior Chris Dashiell, junior Sam Wyatt and freshman Tyler Fuhrman finished with two goals apiece as well.

Senior Kyle Holechek led Stevenson defensively, causing four turnovers and picking up seven ground balls. Sophomore Callum Robinson had three caused turnovers and four ground balls while sophomore Dimitri Pecunes made seven saves, including four in the first quarter.

Matt Roupe led the Dutchmen (6-6, 2-4 MAC) with three goals while Matt Lubawski picked up two assists. Mike Moll finished with 23 saves in goal, 17 of which came in the second and third quarters as Lebanon Valley was outshot, 34-9.

Stevenson outshot the Dutchmen 56-21 and held a 53-39 advantage in ground balls.

The Mustangs return home to face Widener next Wednesday, April 16 at Mustang Stadium with opening faceoff scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
