Seniors Highlight Final Home Game as No. 15 Mustangs Down Marymount

Box Score

OWINGS MILLS, Md. - Highlighted by 39 kills from seniors Jon Martin, Eddy Klepper and Austin Jacoby, the 15th-ranked Stevenson men's volleyball team posted a 25-19, 27-25, 23-25, 25-23 Continental Volleyball Conference victory over Marymount (Va.) Saturday at Owings Mills Gymnasium in the final regular-season home game for the 2014 senior class.

Stevenson (18-7, 7-1 CVC) has now won 11 of its last 13 overall and 15 of its last 18 at home.

In four seasons, the 2014 senior class has won 90 games, the most wins over a four-year period in school history, and have led the team to three-straight postseason appearances in the ECAC Division III South Championship, including titles in 2011 and 2013. The group also posted a school record 26 wins each year and led the program to its first-ever national ranking.

Martin finished with a season-high 19 kills, three shy of his career-high, to go along with seven digs. With seven digs, he now has 1,003 for his career, becoming just the second player in school history to total 1,000.

With 19 kills, Martin now has 998 for his career, just two shy of becoming the third player in school history to total 1,000. When he reaches that mark, he will become the first player in the program's 12-year history to total 1,000 career kills and 1,000 career digs.

With 1,000 career kills, Martin will join J.R. Jackson '09 who holds the school record with 1,511 and teammate Austin Jacoby who now has 1,206.

On Saturday, Martin joined fellow senior Adam Thatcher as the only two players to total 1,000 career digs. Thatcher finished with a match-high 13, further adding to his school record which now stands at 1,087.

The school's career leader in total blocks with 358, Klepper posted a season-high 11 kills against the Saints (8-16, 3-6 CVC), his highest total since he also had 11 in a 3-0 victory over Lancaster Bible at home on Apr. 9, 2013.

Meanwhile, in his first career start, senior Johnny Powell totaled four kills and three digs, both season-highs.

Bryce Ernsberger led Marymount with a match-high 22 kills to go along with nine digs while Tomasz Ksiazkiewicz added 11 kills and eight digs. Bronson Summers-Torres had 38 assists.

Stevenson wraps up the 2014 regular season with CVC road contests at No. 1 Juniata and Thiel next Friday and Saturday, respectively.
