Box Score UNION, N.J. - Stevenson men's volleyball senior Eddy Klepper totaled six kills and no errors, but it wasn't enough as the 15th-ranked Mustangs committed 43 total errors as they fell short on the road at No. 13 Kean Friday night at Harwood Arena, 25-14, 18-25, 25-23, 25-23.
Stevenson (14-7, 5-1 CVC) is now just 1-6 against ranked teams this season. The team's one win this season came against Baruch on February 22.
After the teams split the first two sets, the Mustangs trailed 24-20 in the third before pulling within one on three consecutive errors by the Cougars. However, a kill by John Cunningham gave Kean the two-point victory and a pivotal two sets to one lead.
The fourth set also went back-and-forth and featured 13 ties, the last of which came at 23-23 before a kill by Kean's Tommy Rosario and a Stevenson error ended the match.
Senior Austin Jacoby had 11 kills and a season-high nine digs while junior Kyle Wisner and sophomore Kyle Pottieger added nine and eight kills, respectively. Senior Jon Martin, who had seven kills and nine digs, moved closer to becoming the first player in program history to total 1,000 kills and 1,000 digs for his career. He has now accumulated 957 kills and 978 digs in three-plus seasons.
