Fiamingo Totals Four Hits as Mustangs Drop Two Games in Florida

CLERMONT, Fla. - Stevenson softball freshman Jenna Fiamingo totaled four hits, including three against Simmons, as the Mustangs dropped two games, 8-3 to the Sharks and 9-3 to Transylvania Tuesday at National Training Center in Florida.

The Mustangs (3-4) scored a combined six runs after totaling 19 in their first two games during the spring break trip. The team is averaging 10.0 runs a game in their wins and just 2.3 in losses.

In game one, Simmons scored three first inning runs as Heather White hit a three-run home run. Stevenson cut the deficit to 3-1 after junior Courtney Cook reached on a fielders choice with the bases loaded to allow sophomore Molly Hoyt to score.

Cook added another RBI in the fifth inning to cut the Sharks (5-1) lead to just one but Simmons responded with four runs on six hits in the bottom of inning to increase its lead to 7-2.

In game two, the Pioneers (2-8) scored seven first inning runs including a two-run double by Jamie Lutes followed by a three-run home run by Krista DeBurger.

Stevenson returns to action on Thursday, March 13 when it faces Rhode Island College beginning at 9:00 a.m. followed by Franciscan at 11:00 a.m.
