Box Score NEW YORK, N.Y. - Stevenson men's volleyball senior Jon Martin was named to the All-Tournament Team at the Baruch Invitational as the 14th-ranked Mustangs finished with a 25-20, 25-22, 22-25, 25-22 win over the host and No. 7-ranked Bearcats Saturday at ARC Arena.
Stevenson (8-5), who finished the two-day tournament 1-2 after losses to No. 12 Stevens and No. 5 Nazareth on Friday, posted its first win against Baruch since a 3-2 victory on Mar. 4, 2007. The Mustangs beat the Bearcats twice that season after a 3-0 victory on January 21 in their season opener.
Martin was named to the all-tournament team after totaling 33 kills, a .277 hitting percentage, seven aces and 24 digs over three matches and 12 sets.
Sophomore Kyle Pottieger led the Mustangs with a season-high 17 kills while posting a .294 hitting percentage. Martin and junior Kyle Wisner each added 10 kills as the trio combined for 37 of the team's 48.
As a team, Stevenson totaled a season-high 18 total blocks, the most since the team had 19 total versus Cairn on Apr. 6, 2013. Wisner led the way with 11 block assists while junior David Moler totaled seven.
Sophomore Scott Morantz and sophomore Patrick Schuyler totaled half of the team's 30 digs as Morantz had nine and Schuyler added six.
Jack McKee led Baruch (9-4) with 14 kills while Steven Coniglio had 10. Chris Kaimis and Man Wai Choi each had seven digs.
Stevenson returns to action next Friday, February 28 when the Mustangs travel to Harrisonburg, Virginia for a CVC contest versus Eastern Mennonite at 7:00 p.m.
