Box Score READING, Pa. - The Stevenson men's basketball team had five players score in double figures for the sixth time this season, but the Mustangs were not able to withstand a second half run by Alvernia as the Crusaders posted a 97-82 win Saturday at Jack McCloskey Court.
The Mustangs (13-6, 8-4 MAC) dropped their second-straight game for the first time this season and third in the last four.
A layup by senior Stefon McCray capped a 10-2 run to give Stevenson its largest lead of the game at eight with 12:52 remaining in the first half.
Alvernia (14-5, 9-3 MAC) would take a 40-36 lead at the break after a half that featured nine lead changes and six ties.
Two free throws by freshman Ryan Hill tied the game at 50 with 12:59 remaining in the second half before the Crusaders used 19-6 run to take a 13-point lead, one they would not relinquish.
The Crusaders went to the free throw line 37 times, including 26 times in the final 10 minutes of the game. For the game the team finished 24-for-27 including 20-for-29 in the second half.
Sophomore Erik Fisher finished with a team-high 16 points while sophomore Christian Roberts totaled 14 points.
Alvernia was led by Brian Parker who recorded a game-high 28 points and 10 rebounds.
Stevenson returns to action on Wednesday, February 5 when it travels to face Widener in a Commonwealth Conference contest beginning at 8:00 p.m. The Mustangs defeated the Pride 105-100 on Jan. 4.
