Box Score 2 MAHWAH, N.J. - Men's volleyball senior Eddy Klepper broke the school record for career blocks in a thrilling five-set win over host Ramapo while freshman Nathan Ellis totaled six kills, two service aces and three total blocks in a sweep of Brooklyn as the No. 11 Mustangs went 2-0 on the first day of the Roadrunner Invitational.
The Mustangs (3-0) extended their win streak to five dating back to last season while jumping out to their best start to a season since they went 7-0 in 2011.
Klepper now has 314 total blocks for his career, surpassing the previous school record held by Ryan McDowell '09.
After totaling 25 kills and a .145 hitting percentage in falling behind 2-0 versus Ramapo (1-1), Stevenson posted 36 kills and a .360 hitting percentage over the final three as the team rallied for a 22-25, 22-25, 25-18, 25-22, 16-14 victory.
Senior Austin Jacoby totaled a team-high 15 kills to go along with seven digs while sophomore Patrick Schuyler had 13 kills and five digs. Senior Jon Martin added 11 kills and eight digs while senior Adam Thatcher contributed 15 digs, raising his career total to 986.
Junior David Moler totaled four kills, 50 assists and seven digs as the Mustangs won their fifth five-set match out of their last six.
Ellis led Stevenson against Brooklyn (0-2) while sophomore Kevin Carter had four kills and sophomore Robert Wingert had 14 assists and freshman Kyle Johnson added seven. Freshman Michael Fehrs totaled three kills, three service aces and three digs.
Stevenson concludes its participation in the Roadrunner Invitational on Sunday versus City College of New York at 10:00 a.m., before taking on No. 4 SUNY New Paltz at noon.
