FREDERICK, Md. - Stevenson tennis sophomore Conrad Ellis (Baltimore, Md./Archbishop Curley) and freshman Bryan Gieselman (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill) picked up singles and doubles wins to help lead the Mustangs to a season opening 6-3 victory over Hood Tuesday at Hood Tennis Complex.
The Mustangs (1-0) won four out of the five singles matches completed. Sophomore Peter Hoblitzell (Towson, Md./Towson) did not finish his match due to darkness.
Gieselman won his No. 2 singles match 6-2, 6-3 while Ellis picked up a 6-4, 6-2 victory at the No. 3 spot. Together they won their No. 2 doubles match 8-1.
Junior Anthony Carle (Reisterstown, Md./Franklin) and sophomore Robert Reinhold (Gilbert, Ariz./Chopticon) picked up two victories at the No.5 and No. 6 singles positions, respectively.
Stevenson returns to action on Sunday, September 29 when they travel to face Catholic beginning at 3:00 p.m.
