Play Suspended in Sixth Inning in ECAC Quarterfinals

READING, Pa. -  The sixth-seeded Stevenson softball team dropped the opening game to Frostburg State before having play suspended due to rain in the sixth inning against Alfred in the quarterfinals of the double elimination ECAC South Division III Softball Tournament at Angelica Park on the campus of Alvernia University.

The Mustangs (23-22) lead Alfred 3-1 with one out in the bottom of the sixth and runners on second and third before play was suspended.

In the first game, Stevenson fell to second seeded Frostburg State 7-1 as a three-run first inning by the Bobcats (31-12) was the difference.

Renay Aubel hit her 14th home run of the season to give the Bobcats an early 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning. They added a fourth run in the second inning when Taylor Blevins scored on a wild pitch.

The Mustangs scored their lone run in the third inning after freshman Kristen Mueller (Bel Air, Md./Harford Tech) scored unearned on a throwing error by the second baseman.

Freshman Molly Hoyt (Parisppany, N.J./Parisppany Hills) suffered the loss scattering five hits.

Stevenson will resume play against fifth-seeded Alfred tomorrow at 8:00 a.m. at Angelica Park.
