Rob Kryger Leads No. 9 Mustangs to Back-to-Back Wins on Senior Night

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

OWINGS MILLS, Md. - Playing in the final regular season home games of his career, Stevenson men's volleyball senior Rob Kryger (Massapequa, N.Y./Massapequa) totaled a career-high 21 kills while posting a .325 hitting percentage versus Washington Adventist as the Mustangs swept the Shock 25-12, 25-12, 25-14 Tuesday at Owings Mills Gymnasium.

Earlier in the day, Stevenson (23-11) also swept Lancaster Bible 25-20, 25-18, 25-21 to extend its winnings streak to 14-straight against the Chargers.

The wins improved the Mustangs record to 7-2 at home this season, the most home wins for the team since 2011 when they were 10-4 in their final season at Student Union Gymnasium. That year, Stevenson won a school record 26 games, just three more than it currently has this season.

Kryger's 21 kills are the most in a three-set game since J.R. Jackson had 21 in a 30-20, 30-17, 30-20 victory at Mt. St. Vincent on Mar. 2, 2008 in the 30-point rally era. Kryger's are the most since the 25-point rally era. They also tie junior Austin Jacoby (Sellersville, Pa./Pennridge) for a season-high.

Kryger's previous career-high in kills was 12 in a 30-32, 30-28, 30-28, 20-30, 15-12 win over D'Youville on Mar. 7, 2010. In 86 career games and 238 sets, he ranks 10th in school history with 387 kills and 10th with 964 total attempts. He is also fourth with 54 service aces and eighth with 128 total blocks.

Kryger totaled 21 of the Mustangs' 39 kills against Washington Adventist (4-13) while freshman Kevin Carter (Olney, Md./Sherwood) added a career-high six with an .857 hitting percentage.

As a team, Stevenson posted a .360 hitting percentage against the Shock, committing just 12 errors in 75 attempts. It marked the team's third-best percentage this season behind its .371 versus Eastern Mennonite on March 22 and .362 against Penn State Altoona on March 23.

In the first game against Lancaster Bible, the Mustangs were led by junior Eddy Klepper (Carlisle, Pa./Cumberland Valley) who had a season-high 11 kills in his first game back from injury since March 2. He also added seven total blocks, including six block assists.

Sophomore David Moler (York, Pa./Central York) had 21 assists, six digs and seven total blocks while sophomore Wesley Richardson (York, Pa./Central York) had five kills and six digs. Freshman Kyle Pottieger (Cinnaminson, N.J./Cinnaminson) also had five kills to go along with four digs and three total blocks.

Stevenson begins its quest for a Continental Volleyball Conference championship on Friday when the Mustangs face Milwaukee School of Engineering in the first round of the 2013 CVC Championship at 7:00 p.m., at Thiel's Beeghly Gymnasium.

The two teams also met in the first round a year ago with Stevenson claiming a 28-26, 25-17, 25-23 victory.
