Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

OWINGS MILLS, Md. - Led by junior Austin Jacoby (Sellersville, Pa./Pennridge) who was named Most Outstanding Player, the ninth-ranked Stevenson men's volleyball team won its second ECAC Division III South Championship in the last three seasons with a sweep of Ramapo Saturday at Owings Mills Gymnasium, 25-19, 25-21, 25-20.

The Mustangs (26-12), who also swept New Jersey City in Saturday's semifinals 25-22, 25-16, 25-20, tied the school record for wins in a season with 26, equaling the mark of the 2011 team that went 26-7.

Exactly half of Stevenson' 26 wins this season have come in three sets.

In 2011, Stevenson also won the ECAC South Championship at home with a win over Ramapo. Junior Adam Thatcher (Bel Air, Md./C. Milton Wright) earned Most Outstanding Player honors after totaling 31 digs in two tournament games, including 21 in the finals against the Roadrunners.

The Mustangs are 5-2 in four ECAC South appearances and have hosted it every year in 2009, 2011, 2012 and 2013 while making advancing to three title games.

Jacoby totaled 32 kills, three service aces, 10 digs and two block assists in two tournament games while posting a .295 hitting percentage. He now has 998 kills for his career as he looks to become just the second player in school history to reach 1,000.

Against New Jersey City (19-17), Jacoby totaled 15 kills, three service aces and six digs while Thatcher added 17 digs. Freshman Robert Wingert (Hanover Township, Pa./Holy Redeemer) totaled 33 assists, six shy of his career-high, while adding seven digs.

Sophomore Kyle Wisner (York, Pa./Central York) had eight kills and senior Rob Kryger (Massapequa, N.Y./Massapequa) added six kills, five digs and two total blocks.

Besmir Arslani, who is ranked fourth in the nation in kills at 3.96 per set, led the Gothic Knights with 18 kills, six digs and four total blocks. Daque Wilcox added eight kills and six digs.

Jacoby had 17 kills versus Ramapo (20-12) while junior Jon Martin (Lititz, Pa./Warwick) totaled six kills and 15 digs. Thatcher added 22 digs and now has 963 for his career as he looks to become the first player to reach 1,000 in school history.

Meanwhile, sophomore David Moler (York, Pa./Central) had 39 assists, four digs and three total blocks. In just two seasons, he has amassed a school-record 2,332 assists, 621 more than Dean Massimini who is second on that list with 1,711.
